Yesterday I just came back from Barcelona. We were there for one week to go on the OFFF, a big design festival with a bunch of wonderful designers. We visited about 11 presentations.

I especially liked Carla Cascales, an independent designer and illustrator from Barcelona.

She was such a nice person and while presenting her work she showed us another kind of beginning an illustration. It was nice to see that she started with advertising and changed her subject after. So you can do something new and change your specialization anytime. When she starts working, as you can see above, she often begins by doing a sketch of a flower from different perspectives. Like this you get focused and warm up for your illustrations.

Another presentation which was really good was the one of digital kitchen. Ali Mendili was talking and it was a really funny presentation with lots of gifs.

They showed a project where they programmed a piano to play different songs by itself. It was nice to see what is possible due to the fact that often you say this would be cool however you can’t effectuate it.

However my favorite presentation was the one of aardman animations.

They did the OFFF-titles too. I really like their style and it was nice to get an insight in how they work. Everyone of us got a little OFFF-Dude! So here is the video:
