I’ve read an interview with Roger Behrens.
One question is about the standardization of culture. I think it is an important part of our job because everything gets so normal to the people. Most ideas are already implemented and we have this everyday problem to create something new.
So Roger Behrens says that there is a standardization however you have so different kinds of these cultural goods. Everything seems similar but there are much more things than fifty years ago. However the problem is that the products don’t get better than before. There are no better films or music on one hand and on the other hand you have no critical art which didn’t exist earlier.
The system is the problem: you always combine capitalism with a crisis and the culture expresses the economic circumstances.
So the question which Roger Behrens sees is how the economic crisis affects the culture? Things get more boring, they have less phantasy and are less original.
So it is our part to change that.
